NEVERLAND, their 9th album, reached No.1 again on Oricon charts with 77,771 copies sold on the first day!

NEWS have continued their unbroken run of No.1 singles on the Oricon charts with EMMA.
EMMA finished the week with sales of 149,291.
This makes the 21st consecutive single since debut for NEWS (since Kibou ~Yell~) that has been No. 1 on the weekly chart.

NEWS went straight to No.1 with the release of EMMA yesterday with sales of 90,301. And while not their highest day 1 sales (nothing can compete with Chankapana) it is one of their best.

NEWS‘ latest single, “WORLD QUEST / Pokopon Pekorya” (released December 12th), has sold 131,000 copies in its first week and has topped Oricon’s single chart for the week of December 24th.
NEWS is the 3rd group to acquire the number 1 spot with 20 consecutive releases since their debut. They are behind KinKi Kids, who achieved this with their single “Kanashimi Blue” on May 13, 2002, and KAT-TUN, who achieved this with their single “WHITE” on May 30, 2011.
“WORLD QUEST” is the official song for ‘FIFA World Cup Japan 2012‘, which is hosted by member Tegoshi Yuya. Meanwhile, “Pokopon Pekorya” is the theme song for Kato Shigeaki’s starring drama, ‘Hana no Zubora Meshi‘ (MBS/TBS).source: Oricon via Tokyohive

"This year, the polling was overwhelmingly enthusiastic with nearly 40,000 votes. As for the assessment method, winners of the three “Best Selling Album” awards were chosen according to the statistical information provided by Hong Kong Record Merchants Association Ltd. The other nine international song and singer awards were presented based on public voting by fans as well as assessments by professionals from the field, which constituted 60% and 40% of the total score respectively. The “Super Gold Song” award went to the song scoring the highest number of votes on the “Top Ten International Gold Songs” list.

Yamashita Tomohisa, who has grasped great attention and enjoying a boom throughout Asia, was first voted the “Top Japanese Gold Song” Bronze Prize with his solo “One in a million”. He was also voted as the “Top Japanese New Act” Gold Prize and the “Top Japanese Artist/ Group” Silver Prize."
