Sharing some recent updates!


From now till 6 May 2024, 11:59pm JST, access this site to vote for 3 of your favourite coupling songs. There are 99 coupling songs to choose from in total, and each person can only vote once.
NEWS has not announced how the results would be used yet, but they suggested choosing based on songs that you have special memories of, songs you’d like the current NEWS to sing now etc.

There is also a survey at the end on NEWS’ future music activities.




The concert DVD/Bluray for “NEWS 20th Anniversary LIVE 2023 NEWS EXPO” will be released on 29 May 2024.
There are two versions, available on both DVD & Bluray. Details as follow

On 12 Apr, Lettuce Club announced that Koyama will have a new web series, “Koyama Kyodai no Shokutaku” (lit: The dining table of the Koyama siblings), with Mikimama. The web series has Mikimama teach Koyama easy-to-cook home dishes

It was announced on 19 Apr that Shige will be one of the directors for the 7th season of the MirrorLiar Films Project, alongside Kato Koji.

MirrorLiar Films Project is a short film project produced by Ito Chikara, Yamada Takayuki etc. to discover and nurture new creators. Season 7 will be held in collaboration with Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture. The completed films by Shige and Kato Koji will be played on 1 May 2025 as the opening films for an upcoming facility to facilitate cultural exchange in Tokai City, designed by Kuma Kengo.

It was announced on 20 April that 3 authors of the same generation - Shige, Imamura Shogo, and Ogawa Satoshi will be coming together to start a charity project for victims of the 2024 Noto earthquake. Named “Aenogatari”, the project name is inspired by “aenokoto”, an agricultural ritual practised in the Noto Peninsula to give thanks to the God of the rice fields for a bountiful harvest. (T/L note: “gatari” is taken from “monogatari”, which means story. So “aenogatari” combines “aenokoto” and “monogatari”, to roughly mean “stories of gratitude”).

We didn’t manage to post about this earlier, but NEWS is going back to the Tokyo Dome! As they have declared in the concert’s subtitle, “single zenbu yacchaimasu”, they’ll be singing all their single songs.
Tickets at JPY9,700 for FC members and JPY10,200. FC ballots have closed, but there will probably be public sales sometime nearer the concert dates.

It was announced on 9 Dec that NEWS will be collaborating with JRA (Japan Racing Association) for the 67th Arima Kinen. Arima Kinen is a long running horse event that is held at the end of December each year. This year, it will be held on 25 Dec 2022.

For this collaboration, they have released the following content:

• ARIMA NEWS - a special website with content to learn about the Arima Kinen, as well as activities to win special collaboration merchandise
• ARIMA DISCOVERY NEWS - a web series on YouTube that has NEWS exploring the Nakayama racecourse (where Arima Kinen is held each year), challenging quizzes and learning about the Arima Kinen
• A Real Man - a new song by NEWS for this, with the MV shot at the Nakayama racecourse

NEWS will also be appearing in a special programme on 24 Dec, details TBC.

It was announced on 24 Sep that NEWS will be providing the new opening theme song to TV anime "Shadowverse Flame". Titled "Tick-Tock", the song will serve as the opening theme to the series from the 1 Oct 2022 episode onwards.

"Shadowverse Flame" airs Saturdays, 10am on TV Tokyo networks. 

Koyama's comment below:
NEWS' "Tick-Tock" has been chosen as the opening theme for TV anime "Shadowverse Flame". The three of us heard the news at the same time, and we were both really happy and excited about the music that would be created out of this collaboration. I really love the world view of "Shadowverse Flame", how while it's a card game, there are also delicately developed psychological battles, and scenes so tense you can hear the ticking of the clock. You can also watch how the characters battle on in the ever changing situation. Watching the anime, I feel like it's a battle of human strength. I'm looking forward to the growth the characters will show beyond their wins and losses. "Shadowverse Flame" is well-loved worldwide. Just like how the anime transcends borders and connect people across the globe, I hope NEWS' song can become loved by all Shaowverse fans in the world.

NEWS 12th Album ‘Ongaku’ (Music) will be released on August 17 and is available for pre-ordering online at all the usual sites.

Ongaku is also the name of their live tour which starts on August 27 in Hokkaido.

With NEWS heading towards their 20th anniversary, this new album seeks to not only share new music but to also celebrate the individual specialities of the members of a group at its peak.

The album comes in three versions, two with DVD/Blu-ray content as well as codes that can be used for exclusive online content.
