Sharing some recent updates!


From now till 6 May 2024, 11:59pm JST, access this site to vote for 3 of your favourite coupling songs. There are 99 coupling songs to choose from in total, and each person can only vote once.
NEWS has not announced how the results would be used yet, but they suggested choosing based on songs that you have special memories of, songs you’d like the current NEWS to sing now etc.

There is also a survey at the end on NEWS’ future music activities.




The concert DVD/Bluray for “NEWS 20th Anniversary LIVE 2023 NEWS EXPO” will be released on 29 May 2024.
There are two versions, available on both DVD & Bluray. Details as follow

On 12 Apr, Lettuce Club announced that Koyama will have a new web series, “Koyama Kyodai no Shokutaku” (lit: The dining table of the Koyama siblings), with Mikimama. The web series has Mikimama teach Koyama easy-to-cook home dishes

It was announced on 19 Apr that Shige will be one of the directors for the 7th season of the MirrorLiar Films Project, alongside Kato Koji.

MirrorLiar Films Project is a short film project produced by Ito Chikara, Yamada Takayuki etc. to discover and nurture new creators. Season 7 will be held in collaboration with Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture. The completed films by Shige and Kato Koji will be played on 1 May 2025 as the opening films for an upcoming facility to facilitate cultural exchange in Tokai City, designed by Kuma Kengo.

It was announced on 20 April that 3 authors of the same generation - Shige, Imamura Shogo, and Ogawa Satoshi will be coming together to start a charity project for victims of the 2024 Noto earthquake. Named “Aenogatari”, the project name is inspired by “aenokoto”, an agricultural ritual practised in the Noto Peninsula to give thanks to the God of the rice fields for a bountiful harvest. (T/L note: “gatari” is taken from “monogatari”, which means story. So “aenogatari” combines “aenokoto” and “monogatari”, to roughly mean “stories of gratitude”).

We didn’t manage to post about this earlier, but NEWS is going back to the Tokyo Dome! As they have declared in the concert’s subtitle, “single zenbu yacchaimasu”, they’ll be singing all their single songs.
Tickets at JPY9,700 for FC members and JPY10,200. FC ballots have closed, but there will probably be public sales sometime nearer the concert dates.

We're so blessed to have met you, to have you three in our lives.
The past year has been filled with so much special group content, with more to look forward to in the months to come.
Thank you so much for being our constant all these years, for bringing so much happiness to us, and for continuing to exist as NEWS.

• "Gifted", the theme song to Massu's drama of the same title, will be released within the year
• NEWS will be having concerts at the Tokyo Dome on 20 & 21 Dec

Happy 37th Birthday to our sunshine!

As we look back on the past year and the year ahead, it's amazes us how Massu has managed to surprise us with his work year after year. Thank you for being our constant, for being the warm and kind presence, and for being such a positive influence in our lives.  
Can't wait to see you as the brilliant yet haughty Amakusa in another month or so!

It was announced on 10 May that Massu will be in a new drama SP on NHK BS4K. Part of a series of drama adaptations of Fujiko F Fujio's SF short stories, Massu will be appearing in "Iyana iyana iyana yatsu" (11 Jun, 10:50pm JST) as Mizumori.

This is a one-off drama, and from previous adaptations of the same series, it seems like each episode will only be 15 minutes long. Other cast members in the same story include Hagiwara Masato, Nomaguchi Toru, Asari Yosuke, Iijima Hiroki, Sakai Wakana, and Takenaka Naoto.
